After several challenging years for industry exhibitions, ENLIT Europe 2025 in Bilbao, Spain, proved to be a very welcome and refreshing experience for the
.
To be honest, in recent years ENLIT , like many other large events , had lost part of its practical value. COVID, travel restrictions, and reduced attendance meant that exhibitions often felt more like closed networking circles where exhibitors mainly talked to each other. Last year, based on rather weak results, SkyBill even decided not to attend at all.
This year, however, we made a conscious decision to return.
Bilbao?
Bilbao was not a city we had much prior exposure to, so seeing it announced as the host city for ENLIT Europe raised some natural questions. It is not a major European hub, there were no direct flights from Riga, and we assumed the same might apply to many other locations. Naturally, we had doubts:
- Would attendance be high enough?
- Would potential customers and partners make the journey?
- Would the exhibition space be large and well organised?
Despite these concerns, we decided that after spending enough time “at home”, it was time to go back and see for ourselves.
First Impressions
Upon arrival, it became clear that the only real challenge in Bilbao was the weather , sunshine and rain could easily replace each other within minutes. Everything else exceeded expectations.
The exhibition hall was spacious and well organised, our hotel was conveniently located nearby, and the overall logistics worked smoothly. This year, we also chose a larger stand and attended the event together as a full team, which turned out to be a very good decision.
A Busy, Productive Exhibition
From the very first day, the difference compared to previous years was obvious. The exhibition was lively, well attended, and professionally organised. There were moments when the entire SkyBill team was continuously engaged , talking to visitors, answering questions, discussing use cases, and demonstrating our solutions.
The second day was just as intense, and even though the third day ended around midday, the overall impression was extremely positive. This time, ENLIT truly felt like a meaningful industry event again.
Long-Term Value Over Quick Deals
In the utilities sector, results rarely appear instantly. Utility billing and CIS solutions are complex systems, and sales cycles are long. To put things into perspective: one of our projects with a power utility in Singapore took almost three years from first contact to contract signing.
That is why we see the value of ENLIT not as immediate sales, but as:
- Building long-term relationships
- Strengthening trust
- Exchanging real, practical experience
From this perspective, ENLIT Europe 2025 was a clear success.

Looking Ahead
We are already confident that we will participate again next year in Vienna. By then, we plan to introduce even more new functionality, as our product roadmap includes significant developments in automation, efficiency, and intelligent data processing.
In addition, we will soon publish new case studies on our website, showcasing real projects delivered for our customers worldwide. Many of our clients have already seen measurable results and are happy to share their recommendations.
